Corey Breedlove is an accomplished musician known for his soulful sentimental songs and jazz-infused “vintage soul” sound. Based out of Dallas TX, the Singer/Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist performs 200+ shows a year and is currently in the process of releasing his 2nd album.
Originating from Dallas, Corey’s musical journey began at the eager age of eight when his grandmother gifted him an antique acoustic guitar. With a rich musical lineage, including a great-grandfather “Wendell Breedlove” who mastered 27 instruments and performed with big bands for over 60 years, Corey was destined to pursue music. Despite facing serious illness during his childhood, he turned to music as a source of comfort and expression, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Pink Floyd, The Doors, and Jimi Hendrix.
A life-changing moment came when Corey discovered a $1 Frank Sinatra CD at a bookstore during a dark period in his life. “It spoke to me with an elegance I’d never experienced.” This encounter introduced him to the American Songbook, inspiring him to incorporate its timeless beauty into his music. Corey began performing around the Dallas metroplex, in lounges and wine bars captivating audiences with his renditions of classic standards. This newfound love transformed his approach to music and songwriting.
Corey's performances are marked by a relaxed and romantic mood, evoking a sense of warmth and intimacy that captivates listeners. His soulful vocals add an additional layer of emotion and depth to his music, perfectly complementing the melodic guitar work. Whether performing solo or with his band, Corey creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere, inviting audiences to unwind and savor the moment.
Composed mostly of talented jazz students from the University of North Texas, Breedlove’s band brings a fresh and dynamic energy to his performances. With strong neo-soul influences, they enhance Breedlove’s sound with a contemporary twist while maintaining the rich, traditional essence of his music.
A significant milestone in Corey's career was opening for Chris Isaak in Fort Worth Tx, establishing a broader audience in and earning him critical acclaim. With over 200 performances a year, Breedlove’s dedication to performing continues to enrich the ongoing recording and release of new original music. Breedlove is currently in process of recording his sophmore album, set to release the end of 2024.
